Mets Minors GIFs of the Week 2

Highlighting the best GIF’s from the last week in Mets minor’s action.

April 15-21

Last time

Don't you just love Friday's? Friday's mean it's time for the GIF's of the Week!!

The post is coming out a little later than planned this week due to all of the games Thursday night.

Homeruns

Matt Reynolds hit his second homerun of the year Wednesday night in Sacramento.

Mets prospect fans have been waiting for Dominic Smith to start showing the power and he delivered with a bomb to RF in the Akron opener Monday night.

Xorge Carrillo had a two-homer week for Binghamton, and in both games he finished just a triple shy of the cycle.

From Thursday

Derrik Gibson got the scoring started for Binghamton in Thursday’s game against Erie with a solo blast leading off the 2nd.

Ivan Wilson hit a no-doubter in the Greenville opener Thursday night – “There’s no way the park is holding that one,” was the immediate reaction from Greenville’s announcer.

Joe Tuschak hit the first homerun at Spirit Communications Park by a Columbia player Saturday night.

Defense

Nimmo covers a lot of distance tracking down this fly ball in deep right center field during Thursday’s loss in Sacramento.

Reynolds had a nice week both in the field and at the plate. In the field, he made this nice play at SS Sunday.

He made several strong plays in the field Wednesday night against Sacramento, but this web gem was definitely the best.

Dilson’s bat has awoken since he was reinserted into the lineup at 2B last week, and he’s been a boost in the field too. He made a great diving stop ranging to his left on Monday's Fresno finale.

Lugo had a forgettable start in the Sacramento opener, but he made a nice play in the field during the 3rd that helped keep it from getting worse later.

Plaia is known for his great defense and strong arm, and he showed it off in Erie Sunday afternoon.

He also made a nice play on a slow grounder hit in front of the plate Wednesday in Akron.

Dash didn’t have the best night in the field Thursday against Greenville, but he made a good choice that started a 1-6 double play in the 2nd inning.

Ramos continues to show smooth actions and a nice arm at shortstop for Columbia.

Siena made a diving stop to end the game Thursday night.

Pitching

He didn’t pick up many strikeouts during either start this past week, but he held opponents to 1 run on 5 hits over 12.2 IP, which is great! He K’d 2 Saturday night, and then finished with only 3 strikeouts Thursday night (shown).

Gilmartin tossed the best start from a Las Vegas starter thus far when he went 7 shutout innings against Fresno Sunday afternoon.

Gsellman only struck out two batters during his first start of the week, but he was great over 6.2 IP in Erie. He then matched a Double-A personal best with 7 K’s - and set a new Double-A high with 14 swinging strikes – in Akron on 4/20.

Taylor has bounced between the rotation and bullpen so far with Binghamton, getting much better results as a starter so far. He finished with 3 K’s over 4 scoreless in his one start against Erie Sunday.
