Recapish
Josh
Zeid returned from his spot start with Las Vegas to start for the B-Mets
Saturday night, but Binghamton’s bats came up short against Sam Howard and the
Yard Goats in a 4-2 loss. Zeid struggled through a very long 3rd
inning, which is when Hartford jumped ahead for good.
The
teams traded runs in the 1st inning. Pat Valaika went deep for
Hartford and Dominic Smith doubled home a run for Binghamton. The Smith double
was flared down the LF line, landing just fair and just out of Rosell Herrera’s
reach. The ball bounced out of play, which prevented Amed Rosario from possibly
coming home for a second run.
Juan
Ciriaco doubled to spark the Yard Goats big rally in the 3rd inning,
but it was the back-to-back walks with one out that really came back to burn
Zeid. Both runners came around to score with two outs in the frame, which gave
Hartford a 4-1 lead.
Victor
Cruzado added a solo blast leading off the 9th inning, but it was
too little too late for the B-Mets in this one. I break down the B-Mets scoring
and defense highlights below, so enjoy! This series wraps up Sunday afternoon
at 1:05 PM, with Mickey Jannis (3-8, 4.79 ERA) scheduled to start for
Binghamton.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Phillip
Evans and Amed Rosario hit back-to-back singles in the 1st inning
and then Evans came home on a ground-rule double off the bat of Dominic Smith.
Smith
added a second hit off the lefty in the 3rd inning and Maikis De La Cruz singled later in the game.
Victor
Cruzado launched his 5th homer of the season to RF leading off the 9th
inning. Xorge Carrillo singled two batters later.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
Some Amed Rosario examples and Phillip Evans at third base.
