Recapish
The
Iowa Cubs beat Sean Gilmartin and the Las Vegas 51s Friday night to even the
four game series between the two clubs at one game each.
The
51s jumped ahead with a run in the 1st thanks to a sac fly, but left
Michael Conforto at third base in the frame. After being handed a 1-0 lead,
Sean Gilmartin came out and walked the first two batters in the bottom of the 1st
inning, and both runners eventually came around to score for Iowa.
Las Vegas scratched out a run to
tie the game in the 2nd but then missed several opportunities to
score after that. Meanwhile, Juan Perez tripled and scored to give Iowa a 3-2
lead in the 3rd, and then the Cubs doubled their score with a three
run 5th. The Cubs scratched out one more unearned run against Paul
Sewald in the 7th to make it a 7-2 game, which is how it ended.
I break down the 51s scoring and
defense highlights below, so enjoy!
