Recapish
After
taking the opener against New Hampshire rather handily Saturday evening, the
Binghamton Mets could barely scratch out any hits in the nightcap, and found
themselves on the wrong end of a laugher. Tyler Herron’s organizational debut
did not go well, as he was charged with 9 of the runs allowed over his 3+ innings
of work.
Herron
found himself in trouble right out of the gate. He allowed a double to the
leadoff batter and then committed a throwing error on a bunt attempt. Rowdy
Tellez provided the next big hit for New Hampshire, launching his 12th
homer of the season out to RF. The earlier error really came back to bite
Herron at the end of the inning, when two straight Cats reached for a run with
two outs.
Binghamton
was able to get one run back in the bottom of the 1st, but the
offense just could connect for hits throughout game two. If not for the
baserunner’s on via the walk in front of Kyle Johnson (homer) and Derrik Gibson
(double), the score would’ve been even more lopsided.
After
two straight double-headers, it’s back to business as usual Sunday in Binghamton,
with Josh Zeid scheduled to make the 6:35 PM start for the B-Mets in the
finale. I break down the scoring details with highlights below, so check those
out and enjoy!
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Jose
Reyes led off the 1st inning with his second hit of the day and
eventually came around to score on an RBI groundout from Amed Rosario.
After
Colton Plaia led off the 3rd with a walk, Kyle Johnson went deep for
his second homerun with the B-Mets this season.
Derrik
Gibson doubled in a pair of walks during the 5th inning, but that
merely made it an 11-5 game.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
With
the extreme shift on, L.J. Mazzilli is essentially playing shallow RF, so he
should arguably be credited with an OF assist on this play – great diving stop
and shows off the arm to get the runner at home.
