Recapish
The
Las Vegas 51s took a 9-2 beating for their second straight loss in Tacoma
Saturday night. The offense showed signs of life early, but went missing after
Ty Kelly picked up his second hit of the game in the 5th. In total,
the final 13 Las Vegas batters were set down in a row, and the game raced to a
finish as a result.
The
51s were actually up 1-0 early, though maybe the way they scored that run
should’ve been an omen of things to come. With runners on the corners and
nobody out, Michael Conforto grounded into a double play to bring home Ty
Kelly. After the first two batters of the game picked up hits, Las Vegas
finished just 3-28 with one walk and no more extra base hits.
Tacoma
tied the game up with a run in the 2nd, and then took control of the
game with 5 in the 3rd. The Rainiers finished with eight hits,
included two doubles and a triple, as they tied and then took control of the
game. Stefen Romero’s double and D.J. Peterson’s triple both brought home a
pair of runs, and it didn’t take long for Peterson to come home after his hit.
Las
Vegas scratched out another run in the 4th, but the game was never
really in question after that 3rd inning outburst. I break down the
few scoring details with highlights below, so enjoy! This series wraps up
Sunday night at 10:05 PM, with Gabriel Ynoa (9-3, 3.77 ERA) looking to get Las
Vegas back on track and collect his 10th win of the season.
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Ty
Kelly led off the game with a double, went to 3B on Gavin Cecchini’s hit, and
then scored on a double play groundout from Michael Conforto.
Eric
Campbell and Johnny Monell hit back-to-back singles in the 4th
inning, which set up a sac fly for Travis Taijeron.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
Gavin Cecchini made another pair of errors in this game. Also included some plays he finished.
