Recapish
The
Binghamton Mets dropped the first game of their homestand Thursday night,
taking a 4-2 loss to the Fisher Cats before this series gets crazy. Because of
some rainouts earlier in the season, these two teams are scheduled to play at
least 28 innings over 4 games during the next two days, so who knows what will
happen.
Outside of some late hits from Amed
Rosario and Dominic Smith, the Binghamton Mets offense was nonexistent Thursday
night. Juan Lagares singled to start the 4th and that was it. With
his 0-4 day, Jose Reyes is now 1-17 since resigning with the Mets organization.
This comes after he went 8-17 with a homer and two stolen bases during his
final series as a member of the Rockies organization, which came against the
Las Vegas 51s. Reyes did play some very nice defense over at 3B, handling the
first few challenges hit his way with no problems.
B-Mets starter Casey Delgado’s
night started in ugly fashion, as he found himself behind 1-0 with the bases
loaded before an out was recorded. After a visit from his pitching coach,
Delgado recovered and escaped the jam with no additional runs allowed. He was
helped out by his major league third baseman Jose Reyes, who started an inning
ending double play.
After
allowing that run, Delgado set down 8 straight before he threw the ball away
for an E1. That runner came around to score, and the Fisher Cats added one run in
both the 6th and 7th innings to jump ahead 4-0.
Binghamton cut that lead in half by
the end thanks to their top prospects, but their comeback efforts came up
short. Below I break down the scoring details with highlights and have added
some defensive highlights as well, so enjoy! This series continues Friday
evening at 5:05 PM, with Tyler Pill expected to start the first of two between
these clubs.

Juan
Lagares singled leading off the 4th inning for the B-Mets first hit
of the game.
They
wouldn’t get another hit until the 7th, when Amed Rosario yanked a
single down the 3B line. He came around to score on Dominic Smith’s RBI double.
The
pair of top Mets prospect again connected for back-to-back hits in the 9th
inning, with Rosario coming home on a double play groundout.
