Mets Minors Transactions, June 26 – July 2, 2016

Keeping track of recent minor transactions within the Mets system

6/28 – Juan Lagares was sent to the B-Mets to begin his rehab stint. Lagares went 6-18 with a triple, some nice catches in CF, but 5 K’s. The Mets also announced the signing of Tyler Herron to a minor league contract. Herron is set to join the B-Mets rotation during their double-header Saturday.

6/29 - Undrafted Free Agent C Kevin Hall was signed to a minor league contract.

6/30 – Seth Lugo was promoted and made his Major League debut Friday night. The Mets optioned Sean Gilmartin to Las Vegas, where he’ll re-join the rotation.

7/1 – Jim Henderson was sent on a rehab assignment with the Binghamton Mets. He last just 0.2 IP before reaching his pitch limit, but he had to pitch during the only 15-minutes of rain all day, and it was coming down pretty bad at one point. The Mets also announced the signing of 17-year old OF Gilberto Espinoza, as the international free agency period starts July 2.

7/2 - Juan Lagares was activated and Seth Lugo sent back to Las Vegas.

6/28 – Daniel Muno was released from the organization. Wish him nothing but the best with whichever team picks him up next and hope he gets another major league chance someday. T.J. Rivera returned from the 7-day DL (minor hamstring strain) to take his roster spot.

6/30 – Chase Huchingson was moved to the 7-day DL and sent to Florida to have his arm examined. He dealt with arm soreness in Spring Training and was already sent down to Florida to have his arm examined earlier this season, so stay tuned for updates this week. The Lugo/Gilmartin swap also took place.

7/1 – Beck Wheeler was promoted to fill Huchingson’s spot in the rotation and he struck out 3 in his first PCL appearance.

7/2 - Lugo returned.

INJURY UPDATE: Robert Gsellman has been nursing a sore quad but the 51s are aiming for a return on 7/8.

6/28 – Victor Cruzado was placed on the 7-day DL (retroactive to 6/27), though I haven’t heard why. The B-Mets did need a roster spot to add Jose Reyes, and Juan Lagares also joined the team for his rehab assignment, so hopefully Cruzado is just getting some rest.

6/29 – Rainy Lara was placed on the 7-day DL (retroactive to 6/28). He left mid-AB during his last start, which is never encouraging. After missing down and away, he walked behind the mound and was clearly not interested in throwing more pitches.

6/30 – Tyler Herron officially joined the roster.

7/1 – Domingo Tapia was promoted back from St. Lucie. Jim Henderson joined for rehab and Beck Wheeler went up to Las Vegas.

7/2 – Ricky Knapp was promoted to at least make a spot start during Saturday’s double-header. It was the second straight double-header for Binghamton, so they need arms, but Knapp has been very good in the FSL this year: 13 G, 83.1 IP, 72 H, 1.94 ERA, 53 K: 20 BB.

7/1 – Lost Tapia.

7/2 – Got Tapia back. Lost Knapp.

6/27 – Christian Montgomery was placed on the suspended list and Ivan Wilson retired to pursue a career in Football – really weird day. Bryce Beeler was promoted and made his first pro start Friday night (6.1 IP, 75 Pitches, 4 H, 0 R, 5 K). Enmanuel Zabala also rejoined the roster, though he should be sticking around this time.

6/28 – David Thompson was activated off the 7-day DL and is back at it.

6/29 – Nicco Blank was promoted back from Brooklyn after getting some national attention for saving tickets for Taylor Swift to attend a Cyclones game. Tyler Badamo was placed on the 7-day DL (retroactive to 6/27) after leaving his last start with an apparent back issue – he tweaked it reaching for a chopper over his head.

6/26 – Jose Reyes was assigned to Brooklyn to start his path back to the Mets – he went hitless in two games at 3B.

6/27 – Beeler/Zabala promoted.

6/28 – Reyes promoted.

6/29 – Blank promoted.
