Recapish
The
Binghamton Mets finished a marathon series with New Hampshire Sunday evening in
victorious fashion. These two teams have played 6 games since Thursday, and the
3-1 win earned Binghamton a series split.
Rehabbing
Jim Henderson made a one inning start for the second time over the weekend, and
he again left Binghamton in an early hole. After a leadoff walk, speedy Roemon
Fields reached on a bunt single but Christian Lopes was thrown out trying to
reach 3B on the play. Fields then stole second and third base (he’s up to 25)
before coming home on a sac fly.
The
Fisher Cats got a runner to 3B against scheduled starter Josh Zeid in the 2nd
inning, but managed only 2 runners in scoring position for the rest of the
game. He wasn’t always efficient, but he stuck with his best stuff, which led
to a season best 8 strikeouts.
Jayce
Boyd doubled and scored in the 2nd to tie the game up for
Binghamton, and things would stay that way until the 7th. Cats
starter Shane Dawson issued a few too many walks, but was otherwise in control
against a B-Mets lineup that has been hot lately.
Maikis
De La Cruz led off the bottom of the 7th with a walk and would come
around to score without a B-Mets hit in the frame. He get to 3B thanks to a sac
bunt and groundout to the right side of the infield, and then a wild pitch
opened the door for the go-ahead run. Binghamton added an insurance run in the
8th, bringing Dominic Smith home after he hit his 17th
double of the season.
After
the great effort from Zeid, David Roseboom was brought in to close out the 9th
and he picked up his first save of the year with a 1-2-3 inning. With this
series wrapped up, the B-Mets welcome Hartford into town for a 3-game series.
Unlike most games played at NYSEG
Stadium, the B-Mets will play as the road team for this series, because the
Hartford Yard Goats home stadium is not yet ready, and the game is not open to
the public, because…? Mickey Jannis (3-7, 5.38 ERA) is expected to start the
opener, which is scheduled for a 6:05 PM start time. I break down the scoring details
with highlights from this game below, so make sure to check it out and enjoy!
MiLB.tv Scoring Highlights
Amed
Rosario picked up his hit in the 1st inning.
Jayce
Boyd hit a hustle double and scored in the 2nd inning. Maikis De La Cruz picked
up the RBI hit.

2B.
Dominic
Smith hit a one out double in the 8th inning. Smith went to 3B on
Oberste’s second hit of the night and then scored on a sac fly from Xorge
Carrillo.
MiLB.tv Defensive Highlights
B-Mets pitchers must love working with Jose Reyes and Amed Rosario forming a brick wall on the left side of the infield.
