Recap

The B-Mets offense sputtered in game two of their double-header with Richmond Wednesday night, and they’d lose a tight 2-1 game. Rainy Lara looked great over the first 3 innings, needing only 35 pitches while facing one over the minimum, but then needed 37 pitches combined between the 4th and 5th innings. Lara would issue two walks in the 4th, and the Squirrels took a 1-0 lead when a flare single fell into the ‘Bermuda triangle’ in shallow left-center field. Lara would issue a third walk in the 5th inning, but it was a double allowed to the opposing pitcher that led to the Squirrels second run of the game. The B-Mets finally broke through for a run in the 6th inning, but they’d leave the bases loaded in what was their best scoring opportunity.
Check out the scoring highlights below. This series continues Thursday night at 6:35 PM, with Gabriel Ynoa (8-8, 3.86 ERA) scheduled to pitch for Binghamton.

Scoring Highlights

Albert Cordero singled in the 2nd inning, but he’d be thrown out trying to advance to 2B.

The Squirrels jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning. Myles Schroder got things started with a single to CF, and then came around to score on an RBI single from Mitch Delfino.

Richmond would add a key insurance run in the 5th when Matt Lujan doubled Jesus Galindo home from 1B.

Gavin Cecchini would start the B-Mets comeback attempt with a one out single in the 6th inning. The B-Mets were slow to get him home – HBP, walk, and a bases loaded walk – but they were finally on the board, and threatening for more. Unfortunately, Jonathan Galvez would hit a groundout with the bases loaded to end the threat, and the B-Mets best chance of a comeback.

Defensive Highlights

Gavin Cecchini was started a double play in the 4th, handled a grounder in the 6th, and had a pair of line drives hit right at him.
