July 27-August 2, 2015
Keeping
track of the hottest minor leaguers in the Mets farm system, I will be rotating
through the lower level teams covered here.
Hitter of the
Week: Gavin Cecchini continues to rake as a 21-year old in AA, and he’s
been making good plays at shortstop all
season. Also, I had him as the Mets minor league batter of the month for July.
Starting Pitcher
of the Week: Martires Arias was in control during both starts for
Savannah last week, needing just 73 pitches for 6 scoreless in his first start,
and then just 70 over 6 innings Sunday.
Relief Pitcher of
the Week: Witt Haggard struck out 9 of 12 batters faced last week.
Team of the Week:
The Sand Gnats were not effected by promotions or trades this past week, and
they were perfect until Sunday.

Matt Reynolds – 23 PA, .381/.435/.476, 3 R, 2 2B, 3 RBI, BB,
HBP, 6 SO, GIDP; Reynolds has not been as lucky on fly balls this year, but he’s been basically the same hitter as he
was in 2014
Travis Taijeron – 25 PA, .300/.440/.550, 3 R, 3 2B, 3B, 4
RBI, 5 BB, 7 SO, GIDP; It hasn’t mattered
how hot Taijeron has been this year – and he’s barely slowed down – his K-rate
has stayed around 30%

BB, 3 SB, 2 SO, GIDP, CS; Tovar has a hit

Robert Gsellman – 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R (0 ER), BB, 3 SO, 68
Pitches (44 Strikes), 9 GO: 3 FO; The 3
strikeouts were his high from 5 July starts, and he managed just an 8.6 K%

T.J. Rivera – 16 PA, .400/.438/.467, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB, 4 SO;
He had been hitting plenty in AAA, but
he’s clearly behind Matt Reynolds and Daniel Muno on the Mets depth chart, and
they both recently returned to Las Vegas
Josh Rodriguez – 28 PA, .292/.393/.458, 4 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI,
4 BB, 2 SB, 8 SO; He’s hit all year, but
it seems like the Mets would be better served by letting Jeff McNeil play 3B
everyday for the B-Mets

Mickey Jannis – 15 IP, 12 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2 BB, 10 SO, 19 GO:

since the All-Star break, so hopefully he can build on last week

SO, 3 GIDP, CS; Ruiz is slashing
