Recap
The
B-Mets wrapped up their season series with the Baysox Thursday night looking
for a sweep, but fell one run short of a comeback, and back to one game behind
Bowie for the best record in the Eastern League. Binghamton starter Rainy Lara
came out of the gate strong, striking out the first two Bowie batters, and
keeping the Baysox off the board through the first 3 innings. The 4th
inning would become a mess for Lara, as Bowie took control of this game with 4
runs on 5 hits and a walk. Brock Peterson had a big night at the plate for
Binghamton, but his 3 hits were more than the rest of the team combined for,
which is never a good recipe for success. Just like during Wednesday night’s
game, the B-Mets took advantage of some bases empty walks for their runs
Thursday night. After pulling to within one run in the 6th inning –
see below for scoring highlights – Binghamton wouldn’t threaten again until there
were two outs in the 9th. Joe Benson would double to keep the game alive
and represent the tying run, but the B-Mets just couldn’t get him home.
The
B-Mets stayed home to welcome Trenton into town after this series ended, and
they’ll start a 3-game series with the Thunder Friday night at 7:05 PM. The
B-Mets are scheduled to start Gabriel Ynoa, Matt Koch, and Tyler Pill in this
weekend series.
With
one out in the 1st inning, L.J. Mazzilli and Josh Rodriguez would
reach on back-to-back walks, and then Brock Peterson gave the B-Mets a 1-0 lead
with an RBI single to LF.
In
the 6th inning, it was Gavin Cecchini and J Rod who walked in front
of Brock, and Brock’s single to RF loaded the bases. After the Baysox made a
pitching change, Vince Belnome knocked in two runs with a single to CF.
