Recap:
The
Las Vegas 51s will be happy to get out of Tacoma and go home, as they managed
only one win in their five-game series this week. 51s starter Verrett was cruising
through the finale early, but was hit hard and would give up the lead in the 6th.
Offensively, the 51s were very quiet all night, although M∂D managed another
couple of hits – the guy cannot be stopped right now. Brandon Allen hit his 12th
homerun to give the 51s a 3-1 lead in the 4th, but Josh Satin was
the only other Las Vegas player to collect any hits. Zack Thornton was great
over his two innings of work, retiring all six batters he faced.
Before
Thursday night, Las Vegas starter Logan Verrett hadn’t taken a loss since April
27, which was the first time he faced Tacoma this year. Verrett gave up
back-to-back doubles in the 1st and 6th innings, but
retired 13/16 Tacoma batters in between, allowing only a single and two walks.
Ty Kelly provided the big blow against Verrett in the 6th, hitting a
three-run homerun that made it a 5-3 Tacoma lead.
