Mets Series in Review: vs. Texas Rangers

Dates: July 4-6, 2014
Results: Win 2/3
 W 6-5, L 5-3, W 8-4
Current Record: 39-49, 4th place, 10 games out

Recaps:

MVMet: Carlos Torres gets the nod after taking over for an injured Niese in the 1st inning, and then giving the Mets a good chance to win.
LVMet: Gonzalez Germen looked filthy when he got Elvis Andrus to strikeout on three pitches Saturday night. Then he gave up two homeruns while only getting one out Sunday. I still have confidence in his ability in the pen, but I wonder whether he’ll be sent down to work on his stuff in AAA. The Las Vegas 51s have four interesting bullpen options that come to mind – Ryan Reid, Chase Bradford, Zack Thornton and John Church – if the Mets feel the need to make a move.

Bullpen:

As I said above, I like Germen, but he might have needed more time in the minors before returning. Otherwise, even the walks are coming down some for this bullpen. There is a lot to like about the members of this pen. Mets fans should feel more comfortable about holding leads moving forward.
