Recap with gifs:

Two of the Mets top prospects were on display Saturday night, as left-handed starter Steven Matz and top-2B prospect Dilson Herrera combined to lead the B-Mets over the Curve. Matz managed nine strikeouts over six shutout innings, while Dilson had three singles and a three-run homerun. Xorge Carrillo added three hits of his own and the bullpen was just good enough to hold onto a big lead that was built up over the first seven innings.
Quietly having one of the best seasons for the B-Mets, Kyle Johnson led off the game with a single to start a rally.

Johnson singles

Dilson Herrera followed with a single of his own, advancing Johnson to 3B.

Herrera singles

Johnson would score on a balk and Dilson would get caught trying to steal 3B – it supposedly wasn’t very close. Matz would work around a one-out single in the first, picking up his first strikeout for the second out of the inning:
Elias Diaz swinging.

Diaz swinging at 0-2

After the B-Mets went down in order in the top of the 2nd, Matz struck out the first batter in the bottom of the inning:
Stetson Allie looking.

Allie looking at 1-2

Matz would then give up a well struck double to Willy Garcia before Andy Vasquez reached on a fielding error by 3B Dustin Lawley – he didn’t field a ball cleanly. Matz would recover to get Jarek Cunningham swinging and Zack Dodson to groundout.
Cunningham swinging.

Cunningham swinging at 2-2

The B-Mets would scratch out another run in the 3rd, as Carrillo got the inning started with his first hit of the night.

Carrillo singles on 0-2

Matz would sacrifice him over in his first professional PA. Good to see him get a bunt down, though he was helped out here by the 3B. He’d lay down another bunt in his next PA, but the catcher was able to pounce on it and get the runner at 2B (Carrillo is not very fast).

Matz picks up his first sac bunt

After Johnson moved Carrillo over with a groundout to the right side of the infield, Herrera drove him in with his second single of the night.

Dilson with an infield single to drive in a run

Matz would work around a two-out single in the bottom of the 3rd and the Mets failed to do anything of interest in the top of the 4th. Matz would get his only 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 4th, striking out the last two batters:
Garcia looking.

Garcia looking at 1-2

Vasquez swinging.

It was Carrillo getting the rally started again in the 5th with his second single of the night.

Carrillo picks up his second single

Johnson would keep the rally going two batters later with his second single of the night.

Herrera then followed with his first HR since joining Binghamton – it was hard to tell where it landed.

Dilson hits a 3R-HR

After Matz allowed a leadoff single in the 5th, he’d get the next two batters to strikeout:
Dodson on a foul bunt attempt with two strikes.

Dodson fails to get a fair bunt down on 1-2

Alen Hansen swinging.

Hansen swinging at 1-2

Matz would allow a one-out double and walk in his final inning, but recovered to strikeout the final two batters of the inning.
Garcia swinging.

Garcia swinging at 1-2

Vasquez swinging.

The Mets put together another rally in the 7th. Darrell Ceciliani got things started with a single to RF.

Carrillo picked up his 3rd single of the night to follow (below). Tyler Pill would follow with a pinch-hit single to make him 7-13 on the season. A wild pitch with Kyle Johnson at the plate allowed Ceciliani to score. After Johnson walked, a Dilson groundout scored Carrillo from 3B.

Carrillo picks up his third hit of the night

Dilson picked up his fourth hit with this single in the 9th.

Dilson singles for his fourth hit of the night

Cody Satterwhite came in for the save in the 9th and end the game with this strikeout.
