Mets Series in Review: @Brewers

Dates: July 24-27, 2014
Results: Split 4 games
 L 9-1, W 3-2, L 5-2, W 2-0
Current Record: 50-55

Recaps:

MVMet: The Duda Abides. The Mets scored eight runs in the series, and Duda drove in six of them, including himself three times with those three blasts.
LVMet: Juan Lagares had a very rough road trip, going just 3-32 with 10 strikeouts, and took an 0-fer against Milwaukee. I’m still very excited about what Lagares can do, but, for now, the Mets might be best served by giving Matt ∂en Dekker a look, as he’s been red hot for Las Vegas – .387/.469/.653 with 22 XBH and 20 SO: 17 BB (+ 2 HBP) in 144 PA since his demotion.

Bullpen:

The 4.09 ERA doesn’t look good, but small sample size ERA’s get inflated by a couple of poor innings. It stinks to lose Dice- K, but the Mets should be able to replace his production from the pen, as they have depth in Vegas. Vic Black came in from the bullpen with runners on base twice over the series and stranded all three runners. When he first came up, I worried that he would struggle in those situations, but he’s been great, allowing only 1/17 inherited runners to score.

            11 IP, 10 H, 5 R, BB, 12 SO, 2 HR, 9 GO: 6 FO, 3 IR – 0 S

Looking Ahead:

The Mets start a 7-game home stand against the Phillies and Giants with a day-off in between.
Monday at 7:10 PM: A.J. Burnett (6-9, 3.86 ERA) @Bartolo Colon (9-8, 4.03 ERA)
Tuesday at 7:10 PM: Cole Hamels (5-5, 2.72 ERA) @Dillon Gee (4-3, 3.49 ERA)
Wednesday at 12:10 PM: Kyle Kendrick (5-10, 4.87 ERA) @Zack Wheeler (5-8, 3.64 ERA)
