Mets Series in Review: @Phillies

Dates: August 8-11, 2014
Results: Win 3/4
 W 5-4, W 2-1 F/11, L 7-6, W 5-3
Current Record: 57-62, 7.5 GB in NL East, 6 GB in Wild Card

Recaps:

MVMet: There were some very strong performances to choose from, but I have to give the nod to Juan Lagares. He’s been really hot since the Mets ended their West-coast road trip: in 55 PA, he’s hitting .360/.418/.480 with 7 R, 4 2B, 3B, 6 RBI, and 2 SB for a 161 wRC+.
LVMet: The Mets bullpen was as sharp as it has been for the past few months, suffering the Mets only loss in the series.

Bullpen:

            9.2 IP, 13 H, 8 R, 3 BB, 9 SO, 12 GO: 5 FO, 4 IR – 0 S, 7.45 ERA

Hard to believe the Mets won ¾ games despite the egg laid by their bullpen, but couldn’t pick a better time for the bullpen to have their worst series in months. Hopefully this is just a little bump in the road and the Mets get a strong effort from the pen against the Nationals.

Looking Ahead:

The Mets come home for 7 games – 3 against the Nationals and 4 wrapping around the weekend against the Cubs.
Tuesday at 7:10 PM: Doug Fister (11-3, 2.49 ERA) @ Rafael Montero (0-2, 5.40 ERA)
Wednesday at 7:10 PM: Jordan Zimmerman (7-5, 3.06 ERA) @ Bartolo Colon (11-9, 3.97 ERA)

Thursday at 7:10 PM: Stephen Strasburg (8-10, 3.68 ERA) @ Dillon Gee (4-4, 3.54 ERA)
