Keeping
track of the hottest minor leaguers in the Mets farm system. This post has been
moved back a day after last week – I wasn’t going to cover less than a full
week. I will cover the short-season teams every other week (aka two more times
starting next week).
Hitter of the
Week: To me, it’s a tough call between Brian Burgamy and Yeixon Ruiz,
but Burgamy has the edge. Not sure what the BMets are doing with a 33-year old,
but the switch hitter has been hitting all year.
Starting Pitcher
of the Week: Rafael Montero was dominant, won the PCL pitchers of the
week award, and got a promotion to the Mets – what a great week. The only hit
he allowed was a single to lead off the 5th.
Relief Pitcher of
the Week: Has to go to Jacob Lugo of the St. Lucie Mets for the five
innings of relief he put in after Hefner re-injured his arm. He has been a
reliable long man all year.
Team of the Week:
The BMets had a better overall record, but the Gnats survived three double
headers and still had a great week.
