Recap:

Noah Syndergaard was a little shaky Sunday afternoon in Omaha, but battled to keep Las Vegas close over his five innings of work. Unfortunately, the 51s offense could not get anything going for him, leaving Thor to be the “tough-luck” loser. Syndergaard struggled with efficiency (85 pitches through 4 IP) and command of his curveball (only 31% strikes on the curve), but was mostly able to limit hard contact for the 51s. Omaha clean-up hitter Carlos Peguera provided most of the Storm Chasers offense when hit a couple of long homeruns to CF in consecutive at bats, one off of Thor in the 4th and the second off of Jack Leathersich in the 6th.

Allan Dykstra picked up the first Las Vegas hit with this one-out single in the 2nd.

Matt Reynolds provided the next hit with two outs in the 3rd.

After the next seven batters were retired in order, Seratelli picked up his single on the first pitch of the 6th inning.

Reynolds followed with his second single of the night, giving the 51s their only RISP all night.

And that was the 51s offense for the game – I guess they were showing their support for the four-hit Mets (?).
Aside from the curveball, Thor’s command was very sharp Sunday afternoon, with strikes on 67% (47 count) of his 70 fastballs + curveballs. After giving up the homerun in the 4th, Thor mixed in a very nice change-up over the final six batters he faced. The new pitch mix was effective, as Thor induced eight swinging strikes over those final six batters, and three strikeouts.
Jack Leathersich came in for the 6th, but he had a rough inning. He’d finish his outing on a positive note though, as he struck out Justin Maxwell to end the frame.
