Dates: April 16-19
Results: BACK-TO-BACK SWEEPS!
Current Record: 10-3
NL East: 1st, 1.5 Game lead over Atlanta
MVMet: There were
several big offensive performances this past weekend against the Marlins, but
arguably the biggest performance of all came from the Mets new closer, Jeurys
Familia, who went 3-3 on save opportunities in the 4-game set.
LVMet: Curtis
Granderson made a lot of outs at the top of the Mets lineup this past weekend.
He’s been getting on base at a decent clip (.340) thanks to all of the walks
he’s been drawing – and he has been wearing pitchers down with long at bats
(4.4 pitches/plate appearance) – but he’s yet to pick up an extra base
hit.

Bullpen
5.23
ERA, 10.1 IP, 11 H, 7 R (6 ER), 3 BB, 13 SO, HR, 8 GO: 5 FO, 10 IR – 3 S
The
bullpen had some rocky moments this past weekend, and then the Mets lost Jerry
Blevins for the next 6 weeks. Hansel Robles has been called up to be the
Blevins replacement, and he has been beasting with Las Vegas, hitting 98 MPH
with 8 SO over his last 3.2 IP (two appearances). Bullpens go through ups and
downs during the season, and it’s unlikely 7-8 arms are going to stay healthy
for 162 games, but the Mets have quality and numbers between the Las Vegas and
Binghamton bullpen if needed, and plenty of depth to trade with if it comes to
that.
Looking Ahead
After
a much needed off-day Monday, the Mets ‘finish’ their home stand with 3 against
the 2nd place Atlanta Braves, before heading across town to play the
Yankees for 3 this weekend.
Tuesday at 7:10 PM: Trevor Cahill (0-1, 15.43 ERA) @ Jon
Niese (1-0, 1.59 ERA)
Wednesday at 7:10 PM: Eric Stults (0-1, 6.30 ERA) @ Dillon
Gee (0-1, 7.59 ERA)
Thursday at 1:10 PM: Julio Teheran (2-0, 3.71 ERA) @ Bartolo
Colon (3-0, 2.25 ERA)
Stats by Series
Check out how much each starter has
contributed to each series this season by OPS, and how the starting pitchers
and bullpen have done in a few key statistics in each series. I plan to add fun graphs at the bottom of these Series in Review posts throughout the season, hope you enjoy!
