Recap:

(Jacob?) Seth Lugo had an outstanding AA debut for Binghamton in game two, but Erie rallied down a run with two outs in the 7th to win this game in a walk-off fashion. Lugo was effective and efficient over his 6 innings, allowing only the three singles and never really looking in trouble. But the B-Mets bats once again got off to a slow start, only picking up a few hits through the 5th, which is when Brandon Nimmo broke the scoreless tie with his second bomb of the season. It looked like the Nimmo homer would hold up for Binghamton, as Lugo shut down Erie in the 5th and 6th innings, and then Dario Alvarez looked sharp against the first two batters he faced in the 7th with a lefty coming up. But Dean Green didn’t want to end the day with two losses on his mind, and he turned on a 3-2 pitch from Alvarez and hit a serious moon shot to RF to tie the game. The next batter would reach on an infield single, and he ended up on 2B when Lawley’s throw went up the line. Alvarez was clearly rattled at this point, as he’d throw a wild pitch to the next batter before allowing the walk-off single. After a disappointing loss, the B-Mets turn to Matt Koch Wednesday afternoon in the series finale, with game time set for 12:05 PM.

Game 2 Scoring Highlights

Nimmo picked up two hits in game two, starting with this one out single in the 1st.

Boyd picked up his first hit of the day two batters later, but they would be stranded.

Nimmo’s second hit of the game provided all of the B-Mets offense in game two, this two-out solo blast in the 5th.

Gilbert Gomez picked up this single in the 7th, but he’d get picked off when he left for 2B a split second too early.

Lugo Coverage

Lugo (25) was great from the start in his AA debut, no adjustments needed. He’d face just one over the minimum in his 6 innings, and didn’t allow more than one base runner in any frame. The only time Erie got a runner to 2B against Lugo was in the 6th, and he proceeded to strike out the next two batters to eliminate the threat. He was mixing his pitches well, and features a nice big curve with some low-to-mid-90’s heat that was still there in the 6th - he prefers to throw his sinker, the slower pitch, but his four-seam can reach the mid-90's.
