Mets Series in Review: @Marlins

Don't let a couple of losses get you down, the Mets still have a comfortable 1st place lead!

Dates: April 27-29
Results: L 2/3
Current Record: 15-7, 4.5 Game lead over Atlanta (6 over Washington)

MVMet: Daniel Murphy has had a slow start to the season. Dilson Herrera and Matt Reynolds have been red hot. The questions about his job security were beginning, and Murph answered with his best series at the plate yet.
LVMet: Wilmer Flores has been better at the plate lately, but a 1-9 still hurts, especially from a player in the game for his bat.

Bullpen

            7.20 ERA, 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 6 SO, HR, 5 GO: 1 FO, 5 IR – 1 S

This was easily the highest ERA the bullpen has allowed during a series, but the Mets can hardly blame the pen for this series loss. The Marlins added on against the pen Wednesday night, but that’ll happen at times during the season. Plus, the pen hadn’t allowed a run over the previous two series, so it’s not like they’re struggling as a unit right now.

Looking Ahead

The Mets head home to host the Nationals for four this weekend, and then the Orioles for two next week.

Friday at 7:10 PM: Max Scherzer (1-2, 1.26 ERA) @ Matt Harvey (4-0, 3.04 ERA)
Saturday at 7:10 PM: Gio Gonzalez (1-2, 5.01 ERA) @ Jon Niese (2-1, 2.74 ERA
