Steve
Sypa of Amazin’ Avenue has been previewing the Mets draft prospects: Peterson,
Vientos,
Brodey,
Dibrell,
Winaker,
Renteria,
Cobb,
Chadwick,
and Villines.
There
have been several roster moves made over the past few days. You’ve likely heard
of these moves: T.J. Rivera took Asdrubal Cabrera’s spot (DL, left thumb
sprain), Rafael Montero took Josh Smoker’s spot (DL, left shoulder strain), and
Gavin Cecchini took Neil Walker’s spot (partial tear in left hamstring). Brandon Nimmo and Matt Reynolds were promoted to the Mets today to take the roster spots of Juan Lagares (fractured left thumb) and Matt Harvey (stress injury to scapula in right shoulder).
In Las Vegas, Donovan Hand was
promoted earlier this week and will start Friday night. The 51s placed Jayce
Boyd (retro to 6/12) and Beck Wheeler (retro to 6/10) on the DL Tuesday, and
they activated Jeff Glenn off the DL yesterday. Tim Peterson, Cody Decker, and Jio Mier were promoted to Las Vegas's roster today, Desmond Jennings was released.
In Binghamton, Corey Oswalt was
placed on the 7-day DL with a hamstring issue, retroactive to his last start.
He had to leave before the 2nd inning during that start, but it
doesn’t initially sound like he’ll need to miss a lot of time. Marcos Molina and Tyler Moore were added to Binghamton's roster today.
The St. Lucie Mets sent Dan Rizzie
to the Columbia Fireflies yesterday because both Columbia catcher’s got a
little banded up Wednesday night. Neither has been placed on the DL, but Ali
Sanchez took a foul ball to the foot and Brandon Brosher an unofficial HBP to the
hand (it hit him but ump didn’t call it a HBP). Desmond Lindsay was placed on
the DL Wednesday and Jose Medina was activated to take his spot. Lindsay’s last
game action saw him diving head first into home for the game winning run, so
it’s likely something minor happened on the play. He was the first base coach
at times in Greenville and had no obvious casts.

Minors MVP of the Day
– Brandon Brosher. This was a tough call between Brosher, Ramos, and Taijeron, and I chose the only one who made any outs Friday, but Brosher's hit was the difference in a win for Columbia.
Minors Cy of the Day
– Jordan Humphreys. All three starters had good outings, and I would've had to go with Hand had he gone any deeper into the game, but the 51s took him out after 7 and the game went downhill after that. Secondary factors like game result, age, and walks all favor Humphreys.
