Dates: April 6, 8-9
Results: Win 2/3
Current Record: 2-1
MVMet: Travis
d’Arnaud came through with multiple big hits throughout the series and looked
generally awesome. After a rough spring, T∂A’s performance was really
reassuring.
LVMet: Alex
Torres had a wild streak in the 2nd half of last season with the
Padres, and he did not have a good start to his Mets career Thursday afternoon.

Alex
Torres looked a little shaky in his Mets debut and Jeurys Familia allowed a
meaningless 9th inning run, but otherwise the pen was great for the
Mets. Montero looked very good Wednesday night, as he continues to make a case
for Gee’s spot in the rotation. It’s only one appearance, but I think we got a
preview of how the Mets will use Rafael Montero out of the pen early in the
season, as he looked like he could’ve gone another inning or two. Congrats to
Buddy Carlyle on his first major league save after a long career. Overall, it
was only one series, but the 8-man bullpen seemed like an unnecessary luxury.
Looking Ahead
The Mets head to Atlanta before starting their first home stand of 2015 against
the Phillies.
Friday at 7:35 PM: Jon Niese @ Eric Stults
Saturday at 7:10 PM: Dillon Gee @ Julio Teheran
Sunday at 1:35 PM: Bartolo Colon (1-0, 1.50 ERA) @ Alex Wood
