Recap
The
51s got an early injection of offense from Matt Reynolds Wendesday night, but
then went back into hibernation for the rest of the game, as their losing
streak extended to 8-straight. The 3-run homerun from Reynolds matched the
scoring output from the 51s offense over the first 5 games of this road trip,
which is hard to believe, both from this offense, and in this league. 51s
starter Logan Verrett was shaky, throwing only 58% strikes, and allowing 6 hits
during his 3.2 IP. He got some nice defensive help from T.J. Rivera behind him,
but he was inefficient, and had not been stretch out for this start. Scott Rice
was the first to relieve Verrett, allowing an inherited runner to score with a
single allowed to the first lefty he saw. Rice would stay out for the 5th,
which makes no sense considering how Wally has used him this year, and he’d
allow a walk and a homerun to lefties in the frame. John Church and Zack
Thornton took over and finished with 3 nearly perfect innings, but the damage
was done, and the 51s only managed two base runners the rest of the game.
The
series continues Thursday at 8:05 PM, and the 51s are scheduled to send Darin
Gorski out there with the responsibility of ending this losing streak.
After
the first two 51s batters of the game reached, Matt Reynolds launched a 3-run
bomb. The end.
Now we can find #exoplanets and also "see" clouds & weather as their brightness changes. http://t.co/v1bQeNn289 pic.twitter.com/eN4Dty0VcA
