Recap
B-Mets
starter Gabriel Ynoa had another underwhelming performance Wednesday night, but
he was good enough to leave Binghamton in a position to even the series against
Trenton. Unfortunately for those fans looking for a win over the rival Thunder
(aka, the Yankees affiliate), Bobby Parnell’s disastrous rehab tour was
scheduled to continue in the 1-run game, and the results were all too familiar
for the former Mets closer. While Parnell didn’t have his best stuff again (low
90’s heat, 52% strikes), he might’ve had a scoreless inning with a little help
from his defense. Gilbert Gomez got a bad break on a low liner hit directly at him,
and then couldn’t recover in time to make the diving catch, trapping the ball
instead. Two batters later, Jared King lost a lazy fly ball to RF in the
lights, and it bounced behind him and then over the wall for a double – I guess
that’s the best result you can get when an outfielder loses the ball with no
help around. King made up for his mistake in the field with a nice day at the
plate, as he was involved in all 3 run scoring innings. In the end, just like
with game 1, the B-Mets could only keep battling back offensively so many
times.
Check
out the highlights from this game, as well as more on Parnell’s appearance,
below. This series concludes Thursday at 6:35 PM, with Luis Cessa scheduled to
pitch at home for Binghamton.
Michael
Conforto picked up a two out single in the 1st.
Jared
King walked to get the 3rd inning rally started. He’d come around to
score on consecutive singles from Yeixon Ruiz and Gavin Cecchini.
King
also got the 5th inning rally started, this time reaching on a
single lined into LF. With two outs, and Ruiz now on 1B after a fielder’s
choice, Cecchini kept the rally going with a single into LF. After Conforto
walked to load the bases, J Rod gave the B-Mets their first lead with a two-run
single into CF.
Aderlin
Rodriguez led off the 6th with a single, and then came home on
King’s second hit of the game.
