Dates: June
4-7, 2015
Results: Split 4
Current Record: 31-27, 1st Place, 0.5 Game Ahead
of Washington
MVMet: Big series
from the Mets centerfielder, and they needed Juan Lagares to have a series at
the plate like that. He has 2 doubles, a triple and a bomb in his past 9 games,
which has raised his production from a 67 wRC+ to 82 wRC+.
LVMet: Lucas Duda
has been one of the top hitters in the majors this year, and has looked alone
in the Mets lineup at times this year, but had a pretty disastrous trip to the
desert.

The
8th inning from Friday night’s loss was ugly (all 4 runs charged are
from that inning), but otherwise the pen was pretty solid. Terry Collins
micromanaged the pen at a level he rarely has this season, so hopefully that is
not the start of a new trend. I’d rather have Jenrry Mejia pitching than
suspended, but his absence has allowed Familia to emerge as one of the top
closers in the game. The ‘down side’ to Familia being a full-time closer is
that Collins now limits his use to the 9th inning, as opposed to
bringing in his best reliever in the highest leverage spots of the game – I do
like that he’s shown a willingness to let Familia go more than an inning for a
save twice over the past week.
Looking Ahead
The
Mets are home for 8 games starting Tuesday, as San Francisco, Atlanta and
Toronto come into town – 2 games at home against the Blue Jays, and then they
