Keeping track of transactions within the Mets system
Hello
all and happy 2016! It’s been far too long since my last post, for which I
apologize, but I’m ready to come back from a much-needed Internet break. I’m
going to get some bookkeeping details out of the way here first, but there are
42 days until the Mets report to camp, and I should have plenty to say about
2015 between now and then.
9/23 – Sign free agent Briam Campusano to a minor league
contract.
10/9 – Reassigned Eric O’Flaherty, Dario Alvarez, Eric
Campbell, Johnny Monell, Dilson Herrera, Bobby Parnell, Sean Gilmartin, Anthony
Recker, Tim Stauffer, Carlos Torres, Juan Uribe Eric Young Jr, and Logan Verrett
to the minor leagues.
10/12 – Selected Matt Reynolds from Las Vegas and
‘reassigned’ Ruben Tejada to the minor leagues. Tim Stauffer was DFA’d (he’d
elect free agency two days later).
10/17 – Sean Gilmartin was activated from the minor leagues,
and Erik Goeddel was sent to the minors to clear space.
10/17 – Juan Uribe was activated and Matt Reynolds was
returned to the minor leagues.
11/2 –Yoenis Cespedes, Juan Uribe, Bobby Parnell, Eric
O’Flaherty, Daniel Murphy, Kelly Johnson, Bartolo Colon, Tyler Clippard, Jerry
Blevins elected free agency.
11/3 – All 60-day DL players were activated: Jack
Leathersich, Buddy Carlyle, Darrell Ceciliani, Josh Edgin, Zack Wheeler, Rafael
Montero, Wilfredo Tovar.
11/5 – Wilfredo Tovar and Anthony Recker were outrighted to
Las Vegas. Eric Young Jr elected free agency.
11/10 – Buddy Carlyle elected free agency. The Mets signed
the following players to minor league contracts: P Guillermo Granadillo, P
Jaison Vilera, P Jorge Martinez, OF Jeison Rodriguez, 2B David Lozano, P Victor
Isturiz, P Eulises Sanchez.
11/13 – The Mets signed 2B Ty Kelly to a minor league
contract with a spring training invite. P Angel Chalas was signed to a minor
league contract.
11/16 – P Christopher Madera was signed to a minor league
contact.
11/19 – The Chicago Cubs claimed LH RP Jack Leatherisch off
waivers.
11/20 – The Mets selected the contracts of Jeff Walters,
Robert Gsellman, Seth Lugo, and Brandon Nimmo.
11/24 – The Mets signed RHP Stolmy Pimentel to a minor
league contract with a spring training invite.
12/3 – The Mets signed RHP Jim Henderson to a minor league
contract with a spring training invite.
12/9 – Jon Niese was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in
exchange for 2B Neil Walker.
12/10 – The Mets lost Matt Bowman to the St. Louis Cardinals
in the Rule 5 draft.
12/11 – Michael Cuddyer retired and the Mets signed SS
Asdrubal Cabrera.
12/12 – The Mets signed LH SP/RP Duane Below and 1B Marc
Krauss to minor league contracts.
12/14 – The Mets signed RH RP Buddy Carlyle to a minor
league contract.
12/15 – The Mets signed LH RP Jerry Blevins.
12/16 – The Mets signed LHP Andrew Barbosa to a minor league
contract.
12/18 – Johnny Monell was DFA’d and the Mets signed Bartolo
Colon.
12/23 – Johnny Monell was outrighted to Las Vegas. The
Milwaukee Brewers claimed OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis off waivers. The Mets signed LF
Alejandro De Aza.
10/5 – Dillon Gee elected free agency.
10/6 – Cory Vaughn was released.
11/6 – LH RP Alex Torres, RH RP John Church, LHP Darin
Gorski, RH RP Cody Satterwhite, LH RP Scott Rice, C Dan Rohlfing, 1B Brandon
Allen, 2B Brooks Conrad, C Anthony Recker, RH RP Vic Black, SS Wilfredo Tovar,
and 3B Zach Lutz elected free agency.
10/6 – LH RP Adam Kolarek was released.
11/6 – OF Joe Benson, OF Gilbert Gomez, RH RP Jon Velasquez,
1B Vince Belnome, 3B Josh Rodriguez, OF Brock Peterson, 3B Jonathan Galvez, and
C Albert Cordero elected free agency.
10/6 – C Jeff Glenn and RH RP Julian Hilario were released.
11/7 – RH RP Jake Kuebler elected free agency.
12/10 – Octavio Acosta was lost to the Fresno Grizzlies of
the Houston Astros organization in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft
– Octavio spent last year on loan to a team in the Mexican League.
The Savannah Sand Gnats are now officially the Columbia
Fireflies!
10/6 – Ruben Reyes, Will Fulmer, Zach Mathieu, Branden
Kaupe, Oswald Caraballo, and Manuel Hilario were released.
11/6 – Edioglis Villasmil elected free agency.
10/6 – Anthony Chavez was released.
12/23 – Jose Martinez was placed on the restricted list.
DSL Mets
9/15 – Edgar Rodriguez, Jose Mendez, Jorge Cespedes, Ysidrio
Pierre, and Claudio Merilan were released.
