            The Brooklyn Cyclones season-long woes continued Tuesday night in West Virginia, as they dropped their opener with the Black Bears 7-3 to fall 19 games below .500.  Cyclones starter Jose Geraldo was making his first NYPL start, and the big righty showed the rawness of a rookie ball pitcher, but the potential of a future bullpen arm. Although his defense let him down some, Geraldo left trailing just 2-1, but then the Bears went to work on Brooklyn’s bullpen and put this game out of reach.

            The Brooklyn Cyclones let their rubber-match with Aberdeen slip away Tuesday night, and then things just kept slipping, until they were down 9-1 when it was finally over. At 13-28, it’s no secret the Cyclones have failed to win series this year, and rubber-matches like this make it easy to see why. They had no multi-hit efforts from the lineup and no zero-run efforts from the staff, they had no hits with runners in scoring position and no extra base hits, they had one runner caught stealing and left another seven on base, and they committed two errors and unleashed two wild pitches. The lead may have been slowly built, but the game felt over long before it was in doubt.
