            The Columbia Fireflies wrapped up a three-game sweep in Greenville Wednesday night with the help of top Mets pitching prospect David Peterson, who was making his 2018 and Fireflies debut. Peterson was in control over six strong innings, allowing just the one run while working around three Cola errors behind him. Meanwhile, the Fireflies bats stayed hot in Greenville, scoring at least seven runs for a third straight game against the Drive. In total, the Fireflies scored 22 runs on 33 hits and 15 walks in this series, while the pitching staff limited the drive to 10 runs on 25 hits, with 41 K: 12 BB.

            The Columbia Fireflies won their second straight in Greenville Tuesday night, scoring 7 runs for a second straight game to top the Drive 7-5. Cola starter Marcel Renteria struck out a career-high seven batters over 5.1 IP (also a career-high) while issuing just one walk to earn the win. Greenville battled back some against the Cola pen late, but the Fireflies held on to improve to 8-4 this year. Offensively, Cola batter reached base at least once for the second straight, plus Blake Tiberi, Quinn Brodey, and Giovanny Alfonzo had multi-hit efforts.

            The Columbia Fireflies got a top-notch performance from big Chris Viall Monday night in Greenville as they cruised to a 7-1 win in the opener of their series with the Drive. Viall set a career-high with 11 strikeouts over five innings of work and barely let the Drive hit the ball out of the infield. He randomly experienced some control problems in the 4^th as the Drive tried to put together a rally, but then Viall buckled down and struck out five of six batters to end his night on a high note. Edgardo Fermin led the Fireflies offensively, finishing with three hits, three runs scored, a double, a stolen base, and his second walk of the season. Although Fermin had the biggest night, everyone in the Fireflies lineup reached base at least once, and the team as a whole walked more times (8) than they struck out (7).
