            The Brooklyn Cyclones bats came alive Sunday evening, rallying for ten runs on seventeen hits, but the Valley Cats made more of their eleven hits and walked away with a 13-10 win. After two straight very strong outings for Brooklyn, Jose Geraldo struggled out of the gates Sunday and had to be relieved in the 2^nd inning. There must’ve been something in the air though Sunday, because Geraldo wasn’t the only pitcher who struggled. Combined, eight pitchers came into this game, and only one of them finished with a scoreless outing. Everyone in the Cylcones lineup reached base safely at least twice, except for Jose Medina, who did still have a double in this game.

            After dropping the first two games of this series Saturday, the Cyclones were hoping to salvage a win from Hudson Valley Sunday before the All-Star Break came. Unfortunately, while their starter Jose Geraldo gave them six sparkling shutout innings, their offense gave them just one run, and the Renegades finished with two. For a third straight game the Cyclones scored first and lost, but at least this game stayed close until the end. After a string of great outings for Brooklyn to start his NYPL debut, Stephen Villines was the culprit in this one, allowing a two-run homer in the bottom of the 8^th, which put the Hudson Valley ahead 2-1.

            After dropping the resumption of their rain-suspended game from Friday, the Brooklyn Cyclones made it an 0-2 Saturday with a nightcap loss to the Renegades. Because it was the second game being played between these two minor league teams Saturday, the game lasted just seven innings, although it seemed decided after four. But the game was the secondary attraction for most fans in attendance Saturday night, as it was Matt Harvey night in the NYPL for the first time ever. The rehabbing Mets starter sat around 92 MPH (topped out at 93 MPH), allowed a run during his one inning of work, and then spent a long time signing autographs.

            The Brooklyn Cyclones dropped their rubber-match with West Virginia Thursday night in Granville, taking an 8-3 loss to fall 19 games below .500. Brooklyn actually outscored the Black Bears 3-2 if you only count earned runs, but the Cyclones pitchers couldn’t make up for a myriad mistakes behind them. The Bk bats did connect for nine hits, including four doubles, but they went just 1-6 with runners in scoring position and drew zero walks.
