            The Brooklyn Cyclones were whiffed off the island Friday night, taking a 3-2 loss to the Staten Island Yankees, whose pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts in the win. Brooklyn starter Jose Geraldo turned in a solid five-inning performance, allowing just the one earned run on four hits and finishing with five strikeouts, but the Yanks pitching was better on this night. Four Yanks pitchers combined for the 17-K performance – Trevor Stephan had six, Glenn Otto had four, Greg Weissert had five and issued the only walk, and Eduardo Rivera had two – although none of them went more than three innings.

            The Brooklyn Cyclones losing season reached a new low Monday night against Tri-City, as they dropped their tenth straight on a walkoff grand slam and then nearly came to blows with the Valley Cats as the two teams left the field. It was a franchise-record setting tenth straight loss, and a season’s worth of frustration boiled over for Brooklyn when one of the Cats players appeared to be clapping in a taunting manner at the BK reliever who had allowed the grand slam. Fortunately, things didn’t get out of control and these two squads won’t play each other again in 2017, so there’s no chance this near dustup leads to any future problems on the field (at least not in 2017).

            The Brooklyn Cyclones bats came alive Sunday evening, rallying for ten runs on seventeen hits, but the Valley Cats made more of their eleven hits and walked away with a 13-10 win. After two straight very strong outings for Brooklyn, Jose Geraldo struggled out of the gates Sunday and had to be relieved in the 2^nd inning. There must’ve been something in the air though Sunday, because Geraldo wasn’t the only pitcher who struggled. Combined, eight pitchers came into this game, and only one of them finished with a scoreless outing. Everyone in the Cylcones lineup reached base safely at least twice, except for Jose Medina, who did still have a double in this game.
