            The Las Vegas 51s were shutout and took a 10-0 beating in the third game of their series with El Paso Sunday afternoon. 51s starter Mickey Jannis was better than in his first outing, but he still left down 3-0 after just four innings. Reliever Logan Taylor took over for Jannis and was smacked around over his two innings of work, which left Las Vegas down 10-0 after six innings. Meanwhile, El Paso starter Eric Lauer tossed one of the best outings of his pro career, finishing with 10 strikeouts over six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits (I’ve included a GIF of each punch out below).

            The Las Vegas 51s took the opener of a four-game set in El Paso 7-1 Friday night behind a great performance from starter Corey Oswalt. The 51s gave Oswalt an early lead and he gave the team a much better performance than in his first start against El Paso on opening day. After a few huge games in Albuquerque, Ty Kelly stayed hot in this one with a two-hit, two-RBI, one-double performance. David Thompson also kept heating up at the plate and is now 6 for his last 13 after starting the season in a 2-14 rut. With the win, Las Vegas has its first mini ‘winning streak’ of the 2018 season.
