Recapish

The Las Vegas 51s took the opener of a four-game set in El Paso 7-1 Friday night behind a great performance from starter Corey Oswalt. The 51s gave Oswalt an early lead and he gave the team a much better performance than in his first start against El Paso on opening day. After a few huge games in Albuquerque, Ty Kelly stayed hot in this one with a two-hit, two-RBI, one-double performance. David Thompson also kept heating up at the plate and is now 6 for his last 13 after starting the season in a 2-14 rut. With the win, Las Vegas has its first mini ‘winning streak’ of the 2018 season.

Recapish

The Las Vegas 51s came out on the wrong side of their first PCL classic of 2018, taking a 17-11 loss to the Albuquerque to fall to 1-6 on the season. The teams combined to score in 12 of the 17 possible half-innings, but the 51s put just one run on the board in five of those half-innings, while the Isotopes put a crooked number on the board in all five half-innings they scored in. Because of that disparity, the Isotopes were in control of this game by the end of the 3rd and their relievers just needed to survive through the 9th. With so much offense, clearly there were going to be stars on both sides, but Ty Kelly easily had the best night by individual stats, finishing with four extra base hits: a double, a triple, and two homers.

Recapish

The Las Vegas 51s let an early lead slip away in their opener with Albuquerque and fell to 1-5 on the season Tuesday night. 51s starter Drew Gagnon was solid over five innings of work and left with a 3-2 lead, but the Isotopes exploded for a five-run frame as soon as he left and they never looked back. Reliever Kyle Regnault was on the mound for the entirety of the Isotopes big 6th, and his former B-Mets teammate Derrik Gibson provided the big hit in the frame when he launched a three-run homerun. The 51s offense looked great in the 1st but managed just two hits after the opening frame.
