            The Columbia Fireflies set a Spirit Communications Park record with a paid attendance of 9,629 Monday afternoon, and while many were there just to see the eclipse, the Fireflies fed off their energy for an exciting 6-5 win. The scheduled eclipse break came during the middle of the 4^th inning, so Rome was only able to get three innings out of their starter the day after a 16-inning game. Most of the excitement in the game happened before the eclipse, but these two teams saved the best for last, as both rallied in the 9^th, and the Fireflies walked off with a win.

            Coming off his longest outing and the best start of his career, Cola starter Justin Brantley struggled early against Hickory as the Crawdads took the finale to finish off a sweep on Sunday. Hickory jumped ahead 5-0 over their first three chances aginst Brantley, and while the Fireflies ended up outhitting them, the Crawdads walked away with a 7-4 win. Although it was in a losing effort, the Cola bats showed more life than they had over the past week, so hopefully they can take that on the road with them this week.

            The Columbia Fireflies stormed ahead early Tuesday night but barely held on for an 11-10 win in game two against Charleston. Luis Carpio and Ian Strom led the charge offensively as the Fireflies jumped out to an 11-0 lead through five, but Cola starter Gabriel Llanes struggled in the 6^th, which opened the floodgates for Charleston. The River Dogs would score eight in the 6^th and two more in the 9^th to make this a one run game, but new Cola closer Matt Pobereyko was able to hold on for his second save of the season.
