*9.7% Swinging strike rate
First pitch strike to 14/28 batters faced (50%)
Post-game notes: The first inning started extremely awkwardly for Delgado and the Mets, as the first three batters should've been retired. Delgado mishandled a bunt from the leadoff batter. The next batter reached on an infield single that deflected off of Urena's glove. The third batter reached on an error by Luis Guillorme when a ball went through his legs, which almost never happens. After Delgado escaped the first with only one run allowed, the two teams exchanged leads over the next few innings. St. Lucie just kept on scoring though, putting up a run in 6 of the final 7 frames they went to the plate - talk about bouncing back after their 13-0 defeat Sunday. Amed Rosario's triple brought home Luis Guillorme from 1B. Champ Stuart had a triple, walk, stolen base, and 3 overall hits, but can he keep this up for more than a few weeks this year? Delgado retired 12 in a row at one point before a single knocked him out in the eighth inning. Wuilmer Becerra is 3-6 with two walks in the two games he's played at DH since returning from a sore shoulder. Tomas Nido has just 3 K's through 37 PA (8.1%) to start the year, and he's been the Mets hottest hitter.

*8.4% Swinging strike rate
First pitch strike to 10/20 batters faced (50%)
Post-game notes: Shaw picked up 8 K's over 6 IP for the second straight start (first start here), and he's now up to 16 K: 0 BB (43 BF) with a 12.5% Swinging strike rate. Two of the four hits he allowed were doubles, and two of them were to Trey Amburgey. Vinny Siena extended his on base streak to still every game this season (he had a long streak to open last year too) with a first inning RBI double. Joe Tuschak tripled Siena home in the fifth inning. But it was the eighth inning that turned this game into a blowout, as the Fireflies offense exploded for 8 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, and a ROE/SF. J.C. Rodriguez provided a two-run double in the frame, and Milton Ramos added a two-run triple to cap the scoring. Amburgey added his second double of the game off of Seth Davis in the seventh, and would come around to score the River Dogs only run on a Chris Gittens infield single.
Minors MVP of the Day
– There were several good options tonight, but I have to go with speed demon Champ Stuart, may he have an .850+ OPS until he reaches Binghamton and beyond!
Minors Cy of the Day
– Casey Delgado made a compelling case, but the nod goes to Joe Shaw, who has been a bright spot in the system early on this year.
