Recap
The
B-Mets started their Saturday night double-header with a win in quick fashion,
needing just 1 hour and 57 minutes to complete a 3-0 shutout of the Fisher
Cats. Tyler Pill was making his fourth start for the B-Mets since his demotion,
and he’s now 4-0, with just 3 R allowed over 22.2 IP (16 H, 13 K: 9 BB). The
B-Mets would score all 3 of their runs in the 1st inning, and their
rally was sparked by a two out double to the left center field wall hit by Joe
Benson. It was the third time that the B-Mets have faced Bibens-Dirkx this
year, and they’re now 2-1 in games he’s pitched against them. The B-Mets played
sharp defense behind Pill, but he was just cruising until the 6th inning.
with two outs in the 6th, he allowed a single and then issued two
walks to load the bases. Manager Pedro Lopez went to his trusted closer Paul
Sewald in the tight situation, and he would induce a groundout to end the
frame. Sewald stayed on for the 7th inning, and he struck out the
side to finish game one.
These
two teams played a nightcap shortly after this game ended, with Mickey Jannis
making his AA debut for Binghamton.
Joe
Benson hit a two out double in the 1st inning to spark the B-Mets
only rally. After Brock Peterson and Vince Belnome were walked to load the
bases, Jonathan Galvez singled home two runs, and an E6 led to a third run.
