Recap:

Gabriel Ynoa was great for the Binghamton Mets this Wednesday night, and the bullpen held on for the win late against Erie. Ynoa was sharp all night, relying on a strong fastball/change-up mix to keep Erie hitters off balance. The one thing he had trouble doing was coming inside with his fastball, instead leaving the pitch high and over the plate. It was on such a mistake fastball that Erie power hitter Steven Moya launched a homerun over the wall in left field, which was the only run charged to Ynoa. The BMets were not struggling for offense either, as four batters managed three hits each. Randy Fontanez and Cody Satterwhite had their troubles in the 8th and 9th innings, respectively, each allowing two runs, but the Mets had built up more than enough of a lead.

Recap:

I was very excited when I heard of Michael Fulmer’s promotion to Binghamton and impending start on MiLB.tv, because this is my first chance to watch Michael Fulmer start in 2014, and I was very excited. The results may not have been ideal for his AA debut, as he couldn’t finish the 4th inning, but I think there were some positives for Fulmer to build over the final few weeks. As far as the game was concerned, the Mets offense could not come up with key hits all night, taking the goose egg in the middle game of this series in Erie. It’s not easy to have seven different players with a hit, nine hits overall, and not score, but it’s even harder to believe they didn’t score when you consider the THREE Erie errors – talk about frustrating on both sides of the ball. The one time the Mets did get a key hit – a two-out single from Brian Burgamy with Brandon Nimmo on 2B in the 3rd – Nimmo was thrown out trying to score.

Recap:

The Binghamton Mets offense was clicking all game Monday night, helping the Mets roll to an 11-4 victory over the Erie Sea Wolves in game one of a three-game set. Mets starter Greg Peavey continued to be too good for AA over his 5.1 strong innings, although he has generally been good for six innings with Binghamton. He ran into a little trouble in the 4th and was bailed out by Chase Huchingson in the 6th, but, otherwise, Peavey was in typical AA form. Sea Wolves starter Jeff Ferrell was knocked out during a rough 3rd inning, forcing the Erie bullpen into extended duty early in this series. Jayce Boyd, T.J. Rivera, and Travis Taijeron combined for ten of the fifteen Mets hits, and four of the five Mets extra base hits. Chase would bridge the gap from Peavey to the 9th inning, when Dario Alvarez came in and worked around two-out single for a scoreless frame, picking up two extra base hits along the way. The Mets will look to clinch a series win Tuesday night behind Angel Cuan.
