4/27-5/3
Keeping
track of the hottest minor leaguers in the Mets farm system.
Hitter of the
Week: There were a few worthy choices, but it just seems like Dustin
Lawley had the most well-rounded week of them all, with 5 XBH, 4 SB, and more
BB+HBP than K’s.
Starting Pitcher
of the Week: THOR!! That’s about as good of a week as a starting
pitcher can have, so it won’t be easy for Thor to repeat, but he’s getting
close to joining the Mets rotation.
Relief Pitcher of
the Week: Paul Sewald doesn’t throw hard (sits in the mid-to-upper
80’s), but he has a nice slider, and he just keeps striking minor league
batters out (33.3% K-rate in 13.1 IP), so there must be some deception in his
delivery.
Team of the Week:
The 51s are riding a 10-game winning streak, and are among the hottest teams in
professional baseball. They are getting top-notch pitching and hitting, which
is a great recipe for success.
