Recapish

The Binghamton Mets got back to their winning ways Tuesday night in Portland after rain kept them from playing Monday. The B-Mets jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the fifth batter of the game came to the plate and never looked back.
Starter Andrew Barbosa only had one clean inning during his outing due to poor command, but this weak Portland lineup couldn’t do much damage against him Tuesday night. They made him work for 32 pitches in the 4th, when Portland rallied for 2 runs with the aid of a triple and an E6. Logan Taylor would throw the first 2 scoreless innings in relief of Barbosa, and then Luis Mateo and David Roseboom each worked a scoreless frame to close out the game.
I take a close look at the scoring details below with highlights, so enjoy! This series continues Wednesday night in Portland at 6:00 PM, with Tyler Pill (1-2, 4.18 ERA) scheduled to pitch for Binghamton.

Scoring Highlights

The first 4 B-Mets batters came home before an out was recorded. Derrik Gibson walked, Kyle Johnson doubled him to 3B, Niuman Romero doubled both of those runners home, and then Dominic Smith capped the madness with a bomb to CF.

Kyle Johnson

Johnson would bring Jared King home with a single in the 4th inning, and then came around to score again when Romero launched a homerun to RF. Matt Oberste and Victor Cruzado added singles in the frame – it was a third hit in 4 innings for Cruzado, all shown below.

Four B-Mets would reach consecutively again to start the 6th inning, with Smith providing an RBI single and Oberste a two run double during the streak. Plaia would knock in Oberste with two outs in the frame - his first hit is shown below too.

Phillip Evans, Smith, and Oberste combined for a run on 3 singles in the 7th inning, with Smith providing another RBI hit.

Evans would add a double leading off the 9th, which allowed Smith a chance to reach 4 hits, but he’d pop out to 2B to end his night.

Defense Highlights

Dominic Smith made a pair of nice plays at 1B, but the camera's were too slow to catch him. You can check out Victor Cruzado's arm from the eighth inning.
