Recapish

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies took a 6-3 defeat in their series opener with Akron Monday night for their first loss of the season. Binghamton starter Marcos Molina struggled to escape a long 4^th that saw Akron take a 4-0 lead and the Ponies couldn’t overcome that early deficit. Molina allowed three straight weak RBI singles (two of which were infield singles) with two outs in the 4^th and that proved to be the difference in the game. The Ponies lineup worked seven walks in addition to their seven hits, they just struggled to get runners home in this one, especially with the bases loaded. As an aside, the MiLB.tv feed did a poor job showing the action in this one for some reason, so the highlights aren't all that great.

Recapish

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies won their third straight Sunday to wrap up an opening series sweep of the Portland Sea Dogs. Rumble Ponies starter Nabil Crismatt was dominant in this outing, allowing just a leadoff double in the 1^st and striking out nine Sea Dogs batters (against zero walks) in his 2018 debut. Peter Alonso had another big day at the plate for Binghamton, stroking two more extra base hits, including another long bomb. John Mora also went deep in this one, stroking his first home of the season as part of a multi-hit game. Daniel Zamora and Drew Smith weren’t perfect out of the Ponies pen but they held onto the lead for a 4-3 Binghamton win in their season debuts.
