            The Binghamton Mets began their road trip with a win over Altoona Monday night to make it 4 straight wins and back to 10 games under .500. Although they’d win the game, the B-Mets may have suffered a loss too, as Rainy Lara had to leave mid-AB with an apparent injury.

            This game was dominated by pitching, as Clay Holmes and Rainy Lara were locked in a duel before Lara left in the 5^th. The B-Mets had Holmes on the ropes in the 2^nd inning, but Rainy Lara came up in the biggest spot of the frame. Manager Pedro Lopez had Lara lay down a sac bunt to move two runners into scoring position, but L.J. Mazzilli couldn’t come through with the two out RBI hit. After that, Holmes retired 14 straight before the Curve pen took over in the 7^th.

            The Binghamton Mets slide continued Wednesday night as they dropped their second straight to the Curve. Altoona jumped ahead big early against B-Mets starter Rainy Lara, and then Binghamton proceeded to waste numerous opportunities for big innings. They got 17 runners on base – 10 hits, 6 walks, and 1 HBP – but only 3 came around to score, which has been the story for the B-Mets in 2016.

            This outing was particularly frustrating for Rainy Lara, who had put together one of his best stretches in Double-A over the past month, and was his own worst enemy Wednesday night. He allowed all three 1^st inning runs with two outs and he walked in a run during the 2^nd inning. Coming into the start, Lara had a 1.86 ERA with just a .525 OPS allowed over his previous 5 starts (29 IP), so hopefully this is just a hiccup. This was the 4^th time in 13 starts that Lara has allowed more than 3 runs.

            The Binghamton Mets walked off in extras for the second straight night Friday, this time taking the 3-2 win against the Yard Goats in the 13^th. Rainy Lara gave his team a great chance to win over 6 innings, but the B-Mets were back to having trouble getting the big hit with runners in scoring position. Fortunately the pen was even better than Lara, which gave the offense (aka, Stefan Sabol) plenty of time to come back, and they finally did in the 9^th. The B-Mets pen stayed great in extras, and Sabol did the rest, knocking in Victor Cruzado, who scored the game-winning run for a second straight night.

            The Yard Goats really made Lara work in the 1^st and 3^rd innings, but Lara was able to limit the damage to just 1 run in each frame, which was obviously huge in this game. The 1^st was actually extended after Lara struck out Ryan McMahon with two outs because the wild pitch got away from the B-Mets catcher. Correll Prime followed with an RBI infield hit to make it a 1-0 game.

            The Binghamton Mets played a tight 3-2 game with the Trenton Thunder for 7 innings Monday afternoon before the Thunder exploded for 6 runs over the final two frames to make this game a laugher by the end. The B-Mets showed some life at the plate early, but then finished the game with just 2 hits over their final 7 trips to the plate.

            It wasn’t a bad outing for Lara, but the B-Mets needed a little more length out of him, and he couldn’t hold the 2-1 lead he was given early. A wild pitch from Lara allowed Dustin Fowler to advance into scoring position in the 1^st, and then Tyler Austin brought him home with a single to LF.
