Josh Zeid returned from his spot start with Las Vegas to start for the B-Mets Saturday night, but Binghamton’s bats came up short against Sam Howard and the Yard Goats in a 4-2 loss. Zeid struggled through a very long 3^rd inning, which is when Hartford jumped ahead for good.

Recapish

The Binghamton Mets won their second straight over Hartford Friday night, walking off with a win in the 13^th on the same night Rafael Montero made his return to Binghamton. Montero’s return comes after he struggled so much with Las Vegas that the Mets demoted him. The B-Mets pen combined for 7 innings of scoreless relief after taking over for Montero in the 7^th.

Montero last pitched for Binghamton in 2013, when he was a rising star in the system, so this is quite a fall for a pitcher who is still on the 40-man roster. The Mets are hoping he can regain his form away from the hellish scoring environment of the PCL, and he appeared to take a step in the right direction with this start. He did issue two walks and got away with some stuff left up that might’ve been crushed in the PCL, but he was more effective than he had been in months.

Recapish

The Binghamton Mets finished a marathon series with New Hampshire Sunday evening in victorious fashion. These two teams have played 6 games since Thursday, and the 3-1 win earned Binghamton a series split.

Rehabbing Jim Henderson made a one inning start for the second time over the weekend, and he again left Binghamton in an early hole. After a leadoff walk, speedy Roemon Fields reached on a bunt single but Christian Lopes was thrown out trying to reach 3B on the play. Fields then stole second and third base (he’s up to 25) before coming home on a sac fly.

The Fisher Cats got a runner to 3B against scheduled starter Josh Zeid in the 2^nd inning, but managed only 2 runners in scoring position for the rest of the game. He wasn’t always efficient, but he stuck with his best stuff, which led to a season best 8 strikeouts.

With some Major League talent in town, the Binghamton Mets put on a show for the locals to win game one of their double-header with New Hampshire 10-4 Friday evening. Juan Lagares and Jose Reyes were at the top of a lineup that threw a hit party in the early game, but it was the two guys at the bottom of the lineup (L.J. Mazzilli and Maikis De La Cruz) that came through with the BIG hits. The offensive explosion came in support of Tyler Pill, who went the distance for Binghamton.

Pill induced a groundout to shortstop from each of the first two batters of the game, but found himself down 2-0 just two batters later, as Rowdy Tellez took him deep for his 11^th bomb of the season. Pill retired 7 straight after that as his teammates built up an 8-2 lead.
