Recapish

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies dropped the finale of their three-game series with Erie Sunday afternoon in Binghamton, taking a 7-3 loss as Erie avoided getting swept. The Ponies got an unexpected start from Michael Gibbons, who was on a limited pitch count as he’s still getting stretched out for the season. Gibbons left with two on and one out in the 3rd after an error behind him, and the inning snowballed on Binghamton after that. Johnny Magliozzi took over for Gibbons, but the Ponies committed another error behind him and Erie had built up a 5-0 lead before the frame was over. The Ponies tried to battle back, but the deficit proved to big to overcome and Erie also added some 9th inning insurances runs to make this a 7-3 game.

Recapish

The St. Lucie Mets finally overcame their struggles against the Marauders to snap a two-game losing streak behind a dominant Joe Shaw Wednesday night. Shaw turned in his best performance in the FSL to date and became just the second St. Lucie starter to finish the 7th inning this year. The Mets 4-5 hitters provided the pop to back their hitter up, as Patrick Mazeika and Jhoan Urena combed for three extra base hits and all six runs batted in.

Recapish

The St. Lucie Mets lost their second straight game in Bradenton Tuesday night behind more shaky defense and another wild outing from their starter. Nabil Crismatt cruised through the first 2 innings (first 5 batters really), but then had a very wild turn through the lineup (4 walks) and didn’t get much defensive help, which opened the door for a 3-run inning for the home team Marauders. Bradenton’s starter Gage Hinsz was hitting mid-90’s with his fastball and in control throughout, a combination that was too much for the St. Lucie bats to handle.

Recapish

The Cyclones brought their brooms with them to the park Wednesday and then swept up the Iron Birds before heading back home. It was a familiar recipe for Brooklyn: great pitching and a big performance from one or two guys to drive the offense. This time Gabriel Llanes shouldered most of the load for the Cyclones pitchers, while Peter Alonso and Jacob Zanon drove the offense with big flies and their legs.
Brooklyn jumped ahead 2-0 in the 1st when Alonso went deep for the first time as a pro. Power is his game, and he made some loud contact during this series against Aberdeen. That lead held up until the 3rd, when Aberdeen managed their only rally of the game. Stuart Levy and Ronarsy Ledesma started the frame with singles, but the Iron Birds had to trade an out for both of their runs, which limited its length.
