            The Las Vegas 51s dropped their finale with El Paso 10-7 Monday night, as the mighty Chihuahuas bats force a four-game series split. Making his fourth start since joining the team, 51s starter Jonathan Albaladejo struggled for a second straight outing, allowing nine runs (all earned) over just four innings of work. He was so effective to start his 51s career that he earned PCL Pitcher of the Week honors, but the reality of pitching in the PCL has come up and hit Albaladejo square in the ERA. The two sides battled for control early, combining for six-multi run frames over the first four innings, and it was the Chiahuahuas who won the early battle, and then the game.

            After falling behind 4-0 early, the Las Vegas 51s scored seven straight en route to a 7-4 win over El Paso Sunday night. The win puts them ahead two games to one in the series, which gives them a chance for a rare 2017 road series win on Monday. Mitch Atkins fell behind big early, but he’s a veteran, so he made his adjustments quickly and put up four straight scoreless while his teammates jumped ahead 6-4. Meanwhile, the Las Vegas pen bounced back from a rough first two games of this series to put up two scoreless, which sealed the deal on the 51s 46^th win of the season.

            The Las Vegas 51s salvaged one win from their series in Albuquerque Sunday night by outslugging the Isotopes in a PCL classic. The 51s held leads of 10-4 and 13-5 in this game, but Albuquerque would storm back against Kyle Regnault and Ben Rowen to make this a close game late. Fortunately for Las Vegas, reliever Kevin McGowan came in and shut the door in the 9^th so the 51s could end the first half on a high note.
