            Scheduled to play two in Portland Friday, the B-Mets took a 1-0 loss in the opener before rain cancelled game two. As you can imagine, the game was dominated by great pitching, and it took a walkoff infield single for the Sea Dogs to finally scratch out a run in the 7^th.

            Barbosa was facing Portland for the third time already this year, and the Sea Dogs had a patient approach against the big lefty. They only managed a pair of singles against him, but the three walks drawn led to some huge scoring opportunities: Barbosa stranded a runner on 2B in the 1^st inning; worked around a bases loaded, one out situation in the 3^rd inning; and left two runners in scoring position with only one out for Luis Mateo in the 5^th.

            Mateo did a great job to get out of that jam on two weak groundouts, including one that he fielded himself. Mateo found himself in a jam of his own making in the 6^th inning, but he’d end the frame with a strikeout of Derek Miller to keep the game scoreless.
