Recapish

After struggling to a 2-4 record earlier to end last week, the Rumble Ponies got back to their dominant ways to start the new week, taking a 7-1 win over Portland in the finale of this five-game set. Although the score technically was close until the 9th – with Binghamton holding onto a 3-1 lead starting in the 4th – the Ponies pitchers were picking Portland’s lineup apart piece-by-piece from the get go, so the Sea Dogs seemed sunk even before the score said they definitely were.

Recapish

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies stayed hot Wednesday night, surging to a 14-5 win in Erie to wrap up a three-game sweep of the Sea Wolves. Binghamton’s offensive explosion came without the benefit of a homer and with just four doubles, three of which came off the bat of Patrick Mazeika. Everyone in Bingo’s lineup got on base at least once and either scored or knocked in at least one run. All the offense helped ease the pressure on the Ponies pen, which was tasked with all nine innings after the Mets sent Seth Lugo to the DL and recalled Robert Gsellman. The Ponies had three soft-tossing lefties work the first six innings, and then three flame-throwing righties work the final three.

Recapish

It took twelve innings, but the Rumble Ponies walked off on a walk to clinch their fifth straight series win Wednesday night against Erie. Rehabbing Tommy Milona made his third start since joining the Rumble Ponies and ran into the same problem that’s plagued him his whole career: homeruns. He gave up two and left down 3-0 in the 6th, but his teammates rallied to tie this game in the 9th and walkoff with a win in the 12th. Luis Guillorme, Matt Oberste, and David Thompson led the way offensively for Binghamton, plus Gustavo Nunez had the game tying hit and nearly connected on the walkoff hit in the 11th.
