Recapish

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies completed a four-game sweep of Erie Thursday thanks to a balanced offensive attack and eight strong innings from starter Casey Delgado. Luis Guillorme, Matt Oberste, and L.J. Mazzilli each contributed three hits to lead the way offensively. Meanwhile, Delgado limited the Sea Wolves to three runs on five hits over his eight innings of work, and left with his pitch count at just 86. He probably could’ve worked the 9^th, but Rumbletown Manager Luis Rojas chose to give a save opportunity to Adonis Uceta, and Uceta came through for his first Double-A save.

Recapish

After a tight battle required ten innings for a decision in game one, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and New Hampshire Fisher Cats were right back at it playing another tight contest in game two. The Ponies were able to walkoff victoriously at the end of game one, but the Cats were able to hold on for a 3-2 win to earn the split in game two. The two teams combined for 32 hits over 17 innings Wednesday, but 29 of those hits were singles and they combined to score just eight runs. The Ponies lack of scoring can be traced directly to their success (or lack thereof) with runners in scoring position. They went 1-10 with runners in scoring position during both games (so 2-20 total Wednesday), and they left 17 runners on base during the double-header.

Casey Delgado gave the Binghamton Rumble Ponies some great length Tuesday night in Erie, pitching into the 9^th for his team-best tenth win of the season (that’s second best in the EL). He limited Erie to two runs while he was on the mound, although a third run was charged to him after he left the game. The heart of the Binghamton lineup led the offensive charge, as Matt Oberste, Tomas Nido, and David Thompson each connected on two hits. Thompson had a huge night and is now up to 26 doubles (3^rd in the EL), 12 homers (t-23^rd in the EL), and 57 RBI (15^th in EL) this year for Binghamton, all of which are team highs.
