Recapish

After jumping out to a big 6-0 lead after their half of the 6th, the Las Vegas 51s were sitting pretty, but El Paso would score the next 7 runs unanswered, and won on a walkoff wild pitch in the 10th. Seth Lugo was having his best start of 2016 until running into trouble during the 6th inning, and the 51s pen struggled against El Paso for a second straight night.
Lugo showed his best stuff all year, establishing the fastball early, and then mixing in his whole repertoire extremely towards the later innings. He worked around a pair of singles early and then retired 10 straight heading into the 6th inning. Las Vegas would open up a 6-0 lead in the top half of the inning, and with only 68 pitches to that point, it looked like Lugo would have an easy win.
Unfortunately an E6 behind him allowed the first runner of the 6th to reach, and things spiraled after that. The next two batters came through with RBI hits for El Paso, and suddenly it was a 6-2 game. Lugo would strike out Jose Pirela for the first out of the inning, but then big Hunter Renfroe knocked him out of the game by knocking one out of the park.
El Paso tied it up against Jeff Walters in the 7th thanks to RBI singles from Manuel Margot and Pirela. Carlos Asuaje doubled with one out in the frame to start the rally.
After their big 6th inning, the 51s bats went ice cold, collecting just two singles over the final 4 frames. Las Vegas sent Chase Bradford out to pitch the 10th inning and the first two El Paso batters would reach against him. Casey McElroy doubled and Pirela singled him to 3B. That gave Renfroe a chance to be the hero, although Bradford wouldn’t. Bradford unleashed a wild pitch that allowed McElroy to zoom down the line for the games winning run.
After the game Las Vegas travelled to Sacramento to begin a 4-game series with the River Cats. Duane Below is scheduled to pitch for Las Vegas at 10:05 PM.

Scoring Highlights

Brandon Nimmo hit his first homerun of the year in the 4th inning.

Daniel Muno sparked the big 6th inning rally with a one out triple. He came home on a wild pitch with Nimmo at the plate, which gave Las Vegas a 2-0 lead. The 51s would add 4 more runs in the frame thanks to RBI doubles off the bats of Johnny Monell, Roger Bernadina, and Matt Reynolds.
