Recap:

            Noah Syndergaard was a little shaky Sunday afternoon in Omaha, but battled to keep Las Vegas close over his five innings of work. Unfortunately, the 51s offense could not get anything going for him, leaving Thor to be the “tough-luck” loser. Syndergaard struggled with efficiency (85 pitches through 4 IP) and command of his curveball (only 31% strikes on the curve), but was mostly able to limit hard contact for the 51s. Omaha clean-up hitter Carlos Peguera provided most of the Storm Chasers offense when hit a couple of long homeruns to CF in consecutive at bats, one off of Thor in the 4^th and the second off of Jack Leathersich in the 6^th.

Recap:

            A combination of poor pitching and defense in the 1^st inning put the Las Vegas 51s in a hole too big to climb out of Monday night as they dropped their third straight to Omaha. After winning three out of four games in Iowa to start this road trip, the 51s now must win tomorrow night behind Cory Mazzoni to salvage a .500 road trip. Lannan was hit hard from the start, allowing eight runs off ten hits in just four innings of work. The 51s bullpen fared much better, although Erik Goeddel allowed a run to score in his inning of work, putting the 51s behind 9-2 at the time. The 51s offense had a hit in every inning except the 6^th and 8^th, so they had chances to score, but you can’t expect a team to score on every opportunity. Five 51s players managed multi-hit performances, but the team had only two doubles among their twelve hits, making the offense work station-to-station all night.
